Swan River rink tops Benito Open Mixed Bonspiel

The Neal Watkins rink of Swan River won the Benito Open Mixed Bonspiel which wsas played February 13 to 18 at the Benito Rec Centre among 28 rinks.

On the team with Neal Watkins, the skip, were: Marty Anderson, third; Carter Watkins, second, and Karter Meyn, lead.

Placing second, third and fourth, respectively in the first event were: Ken Newell of Norquay, Terry Papp of Swan River and Lenore Kinaschuk of Benito.

The Brad Knutson rink of Norquay won the second event. Curling with Knutson, the skip, were: Richard Johnson, third; John Knutson, second, and Vi Knutson, lead.

The Bob Lumley rink of Norquay topped the third event. Curling with Lumley, the skip, were: Brian Hubic, third; Joy Hubic, second, and Donna Lumley, lead.

The Jennifer Homeniuk rink of Benito placed second in the third event, while Dale Jersak of Minatonas, Man. was third and Dave Panagabko of Regina, fourth.

The Byron Zbirun rink of Benito topped the fourth event. Zbirun, the skip, curled with Darwin Homeniuk, third; Weston Keller, second, and Austin Homeniuk, lead.

Placing second, third and fourth, respectively in the fourth event were: Jerry Peesker of Kamsack; Vince Northrop of Norquay and Jeff Osatchuk of Benito.

The bonspiel concluded with a banquet.
