SHSAA (Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association) 3A girls Conference Volleyball Tournament was held in Preeceville School on November 3.

The Kamsack senior Spartans team competed against teams from Foam Lake, Wadena, Sturgis, Canora and the host Preeceville/Invermay team.

For the round robin portion of the tournament, Kamsack was in Pool A with Canora and Preeceville/Invermay. Kamsack took on Canora with Canora winning both sets, 25-16 and 25-17.  Kamsack played Preeceville with Preeceville winning both sets, 25-15 and 25-23.

Canora Cougars then lost to Preeceville/Invermay two sets to one.

That set up a semi-final match of the Cougars against Foam Lake. The Cougars made it close but lost in two straight sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-23.

In Pool B, the teams were Sturgis, Wadena and Foam Lake, and the winner was Foam Lake.

Foam Lake then defeated Preeceville/Invermay in the final match. By finishing first and second, both teams advanced to the regional tournament, the location of which is undetermined as yet.

“Our Spartans team played hard and proved to be worthy opponents, and it’s tough to end the season on a less-than-positive note,” said Kathleen Tulloch, coach. “I am very happy with the team. They played well, they had some wins and they suffered some losses, but overall they maintained a great attitude and had fun.”
