Olympic athlete and silver medal winner Brigette Lacquette paid a visit to the Kamsack Riverside Golf Club on May 11.

After having addressed the students at the Chief Gabriel Cote Education Complex earlier in the day, she and friend, Tara Cadotte, spent some time enjoying the afternoon by playing golf.

Lacquette was in the area as the guest of honour and keynote speaker for a program to be held at the Cote First Nation Band Hall to honour the Cote First Nation hockey athletes, said a release.

The theme for the evening was “Never give up on your dreams,” with Chief George Cote as the emcee.

Lacquette of Dauphin, Man., who grew up in Mallard, Man., has ties to Cote First Nation.

“I just want to say you can achieve anything through hard work and dedication,” she said.

After the presentation of awards to the Cote First Nation hockey athletes, there was a meet and greet autograph session with Lacquette for her fans.
