Norquay holds annual seniors bonspiel

A total of 25 teams participated in the annual Norquay Seniors Bonspiel, held from February 18 to 21. The bonspiel was a success, according to organizer Larry Dahl. “The bonspiel is played on a point system,” said Brian Hubic, draw master.

“The bonspiel is played on a point system,” said Brian Hubic, draw master. “Each team plays five six-end games and the three rinks with the most points are declared the winners.”

The overall first place winner was the Ernie Gazdewich rink of Canora. Along with Gazadewich, skip, were: Clarence Homenuik, third; Darryl Stevenson, second, and Vickie Stevenson, lead.

Taking second place was the Vern Schick foursome of Canora. Playing with Schick, second, were: Brian Herriges, lead; Leonard Bazarski, third, and Bob Kolodziejski, skip.

Terry Pierrepont, skip, and his team of Bowsman, Man., including: Lorne Pierrepont, lead; Larry Mychalchuk, second, and Julie Nahnybida, third, was the third place winner.

A banquet was held on February 21, catered by the Norquay Whistle Stop, and held at the Norquay Communiplex.

Tournament ice-maker was Brice Dahlin, and kitchen meals were organized by Linda Kreklewetz.

The 50/50 draws were won by Bill Forman, Vicki Stevenson, Dale Vennard and Julie Nahnybida
