Norquay and Bowsman rinks top Kamsack’s Club 55 bonspiel

Three Norquay rinks and one from Bowsman, Man., were the top four teams at the Club 55 year-end seniors’ bonspiel held in Kamsack March 19 to 21. A total of 16 rinks participated in the event.

A total of 16 rinks participated in the event.

With 68 points earned from six wins, the Ted Kreklewetz rink of Norquay placed first in the bonspiel. Curling with Kreklewetz, the skip, were: Linda Kreklewetz, third; Lynnette Seversen, second, and Ken Paluck, lead.

Two teams, each with 68 points from four wins, one tie and one loss, tied for second place. They were the Bob Lumley rink of Norquay and the Terry Pierrepont team from Bowsman.

Curling with Lumley, the skip, were: Wilf Romanow, third; Donna Lumley, second, and Dianne Romanow, lead, while curling with Pierrepont, the skip, were: Julie Nahnybida, third; Chris Stephen, second, and Lorne Pierrepont.

The Larry Dahl rink of Norquay placed fourth. Curling with Dahl, the skip, were: Dwayne Dahl, third; Russell Lasko, second, and Orest Dedio, lead.

Prior to the presentation of the teams’ winnings, Florence Bielecki, president of Club 55, had thanked all the out-of-town rinks that participated; Mark Foster, the ice maker; Lloyd Thomas, the drawmaster; Ed Yurkiw, who looked after the 50/50 draw, and the volunteers who operated the bar and silent auction.

Bielecki also thanked the sponsors and the Iron Grill for catering the supper on March 21.
