KCI athletes place at provincial high school golf championships

The SHSAA (Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association) provincial golf championships were held recently and two athletes from KCI (Kamsack Comprehensive Institute) placed well in the final results.

The SHSAA (Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association) provincial golf championships were held recently and two athletes from KCI (Kamsack Comprehensive Institute) placed well in the final results.

This year’s championship had 87 participants from across the province, said a release. The tournament played 36 holes to determine a champion in the individual and district team competitions.

The event was held September 27 and 28 at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club in Estevan.

In the females category, Sadie McGriskin placed eighth. Her brother, KCI athlete Curtis McGriskin, placed 37th in the males category of the tournament.

Earlier on September 18, seven KCI athletes competed in the east central district competition in Melville with the following results:

  • females: Sadie McGriskin (second) and Lilyanna Quewezance (third),
  • males: Curtis McGriskin (second), Aidan Broda (seventh), Kade Wishnevetski (12th), Zac Zbeetnoff (16th) and James Dungen (20th).

“Senior golf, Grades 9 to 12, has wrapped up a successful season,” said David Placatka, coach. “I’m looking forward to coaching the KCI junior golf team, starting in May.”
