The two-person team of Shirley Peesker and Marge Wonitowy of Kamsack won the event which was held on January 8 in the Swan Valley Curling Complex.

“There were 24 two-person mixed teams competing,” said Kim Kindiak of Kamsack, who also played in the bonspiel with her teammate Jerry Peesker of Kamsack. “There were teams from Kamsack, Swan River, The Pas, Minitonas, Bowsman and more.

“The bonspiel was a one day event and each team played four, six-end games. The day ended with a three-way tie which resulted in a shootout. Swan River’s Brian Cotton team and Jim Webster team vied for top honours against the Kamsack women who came up victorious.”

There will be a 50 plus bonspiel in Swan River on January 30, 31 and February 1, Kindiak said.

“The bonspiel at the end of the month will be for anyone 50 and older. These will be four person, senior mixed teams and will be both slide and stick curling. Anyone who is interested may enter.”
