Gilles Comeault was elected as reeve on August 21 in the RM of St. Philips, to serve the remainder of the term for the position that was left vacant when Bernie Vogel resigned.

In a recent poll held by the RM of St. Philips to elect a new reeve to fill the position that was left vacant when Bernie Vogel resigned, Gilles Comeault was declared the winner.

“The results of the election are in and Gilles Comeault received 74 votes, while the other candidate, Mike Kalinowsky, received 73 votes,” said Frances Olson, returning officer and RM administrator. “There were no spoiled ballots or ballots objected to,” she said of the poll that was held on August 21.

“It was a hard-fought election,” said Comeault. “I wish to acknowledge the ratepayers who turned out on election day. I look forward to regaining the trust of the ratepayers of the RM of St. Philips,” he concluded.

Comeault, who had served as reeve prior to Vogel, will serve this term until the next general election in 2020.
