REGINA — A man who was coaching gymnastics in Saskatchewan more than 15 years ago is facing sex-related charges involving a teenage girl.
Police say the charges stem from alleged offences between January 2002 and April 2008 while the accused was coaching the girl and living and working in Regina.
Marcel Dubroy of Smithers, B.C., faces five charges, including sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
The 68-year-old has been released from custody and is to appear in Regina court on July 17.
Police say Dubroy was coaching young athletes when he was interviewed by investigators in Smithers.
Gymnastics Canada said in a release in May that Dubroy was suspended because of the police investigation.
"Through a national reciprocity agreement, Mr. Dubroy’s membership is suspended nationwide and he may not coach in any provincially affiliated member club across Canada," it said.
