As of last week, a work crew from Hudson Bay had begun the preliminary site work at the bridge spanning the Assiniboine River west of Kamsack on Highway No. 5.
On April 24, a crew of eight with HB Construction of Hudson Bay, began cleanup and laying down netting to deter birds from nesting in the area, in preparation to begin a full bridge replacement.
“We’ll finish this phase around April 30,” said Matthew Haugen, site foreman. “We’ll return near the end of June to begin the bridge replacement.”
The project will include a complete single-lane traffic bypass controlled by traffic lights. The work is expected to continue throughout the summer, concluding in September.
