Town of Kamsack celebrates Decorate in December success

It was a holiday season like no other, but the Recreation Department for the Town of Kamsack didn’t let circumstances come in the way of encouraging families to enjoy safe stay-at-home activities to brighten spirits.

It was a holiday season like no other, but the Recreation Department for the Town of Kamsack didn’t let circumstances come in the way of encouraging families to enjoy safe stay-at-home activities to brighten spirits.

A brand new campaign known as, “Decorate in December” united area residents in special activities that were revealed each week through the town’s website and social media channels.

“The Decorate in December event was created to provide families in Kamsack and surrounding area with a virtual and safe alternative to the community events that were sadly postponed this holiday season,” explained Dayna Guertin, recreation director. “Weekly activities were themed around togetherness, holiday spirit and family fun! The entries that came in were wonderful. From giant paper snowflakes and homemade tree ornaments, to outdoor activities and extravagant light displays. Participant entries really showcased the true meaning of the holidays.”

Four families received family fun packs, consisting of items such as games, puzzles, and crafting supplies to continue to supply hours of good times and togetherness. Prize draw winners included Kayla Kirkpatrick/Karl Morck and family, Michelle Guillet and family, Shane Vidomski and family, and Jayse Straightnose and family.

“The Morck/Kirkpatrick household is grateful for our box of games/puzzles/crafting kits. Already, the kids are full of smiles and playing Ker Plunk. Thank you once again to the Town of Kamsack for the wonderful idea and opportunity!” said Kayla Kirkpatrick.

The prize of a $100 gift card to a local business of their choice was awarded to another four families, including Connie and Rayia Shingoose and family, Linda Scobie and family, Karen Tourangeau and family, and Bernice Makowsky and family.

Winners of the donated Duck Mountain Ski Area lift passes were Shelly Johnas and family, and

Julie Gareau and family. Each winning family received a total of three lift passes.
