Throwback Thursday
During the Christmas holiday, Karen Dean and Keri Shukin, Grade 12 students of the Kamsack Collegiate Institute, attended the session of the Saskachewan Youth Parliament held in the Regina Legislature and found the experience to be “unforgettable.”
Because of an employment development program grant, the Town of Kamsack was able to hire two people. Lisa Schebek (left) worked the Kamplex concession with Terri Podovinnikoff, while Sonja Keshane (not in the photo) worked as a recreation aide with Susan Krzak, recreation director.
Members of the Kamsack Men’s Curling Club organized the community’s second annual Curl for Cancer bonspiel. This general meeting of the Key Indian Band in 1986 was held at the band office, primarily to discuss terms of the debt retirement program introduced by band council. At the meeting was Chief Dennis O’Soup (seated), Councillor Eric Keshane, Chief Ted Ouewezance, representing the Yorkton Chiefs Council, Councillor Randy Keshane, and Councillor Gwen O’Soup.
Kamsack Mayor, Bernie Rink, cut a ribbon marking the 1986 opening of the Kamsack Art Gallery at its new premises in Crowstand Centre. With Mayor Rink are Kamsack Arts Council members Anne Wlasichuk and Norma Stimpson.
