A handful of dedicated individuals who reside in the Hamlet of Runnymede were busy on Saturday as they held a fundraiser at the Runnymede Community Hall.

“This year the funds raised will go toward the purchase of new cupboards for the hall” said Noreen Boyd, secretary of the Organized Hamlet of Runnymede.

At the hall nine tables were set up, displaying items for sale including home baking, antiques and miscellaneous items. Arlene Morrison, who is the daughter of Noreen Boyd, traveled from Brandon, Man. to set up a sale table at the fundraiser.

“It’s really not too far of a drive, about two and a half hours, and it’s fun to help out,” Morrison said.

Approximately 25 donors contributed to prizes for the rainbow auction portion of the event, and ticket sales were brisk. As grey skies hovered outside, the barbecue was fired up and hotdogs and smokies were prepped for sale.

Winners of door prizes were: Beth Barrowman, potted succulent arrangement donated by Nancy Weinhandl; Don Hollett, potted succulent arrangement donated by Nancy Weinhandl, and Chris Henderson, Buddha solar light donated by Donna Frederick.
