This year that day fell on October 17, and it was a celebration of the 71st anniversary of ICU Day.

At the Affinity Credit Union branch in Kamsack, staff were helping celebrate the day.

“We are serving coffee and doughnuts, and are encouraging everyone to fill out an entry for the draw of the gift basket,” said Gerard Kiefer, branch manager. “The gift basket contains goodies that were obtained from all local businesses. This aligns with the Credit Union principle of supporting the local business community and the local community.”

The refreshments were served for the duration of the day.

The Government of Saskatchewan had proclaimed October 13 to 19 as Co-operative week in Saskatchewan.

ICU Day celebrates the spirit of the global credit union movement, said information on the Internet. The day is recognized to reflect upon the credit union movement’s history, promote its achievements, recognize the hard work and share member experiences, giving members the opportunity to get more engaged.
