A graduate of the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute has received the 2019 Veterinarian of the Year award.

The award from the Saskatchewan Association of Veterinary Technologists (SAVT) was presented to Dr. Tara Hudye in recognition of veterinary excellence, teaching students and support of veterinary technologists.

Hudye owns and operates Veterinary Mobility Centre in Regina. The clinic is dedicated to improving the quality of life for companion animals through physical rehabilitation, said a release.

Hudye has been a practicing veterinarian since 2004, and opened her clinic in July of 2018.

“I feel very humbled to be receiving this award,” Hudye said. “I am just doing my job, and it’s a job that I truly enjoy, so to receive this acknowledgement from the SAVT was so unexpected.”

Hudye and her husband, Brad Sigmeth, live in Lumsden with their three children Rhyan, Olivia and Blake. She is the daughter of Dennis Hudye of Kamsack and the late Doreen Pluta.
