Kindergarten and prekindergarten classes participated in a Paint Night during a Family Fun Night event held at the Broda Sportsplex.

Family members including older siblings and parents were invited to join in the fun and create a “masterpiece” to take home, according to Chantel Kitchen, teacher and prime organizer of the event which was held on January 16.

“Dustin Wilson, a local artist who has conducted a number of Paint Nights, volunteered his time to lead the painting instruction for the evening,” she said. “The event was held upstairs at the Broda Sportsplex to accommodate families whose children participate in minor hockey on Thursday evenings.

“We chose a turtle as the subject of the painting because new to our pre-K and kindergarten programs this year is the Help Me Tell My Story Assessment. Each classroom now has its own ASKI turtle, which the students are very excited about. The Turtle theme has been a common thread between all of our classes, and the assessments with the children occur in January/February. It was a great time to incorporate it into a family event,” she concluded.

A taco bar for supper was provided for the enjoyment of all.
