At the March 16 meeting of the Hiawatha Chapter of the Eastern Star, Worthy Grand Matron Angela Oleskiw, of Yorkton, presented Grand Representative Commissions to Sister Mary Welykholowa of Kamsack for Minnesota, and to Sister Marianne Washburn of Yorkton, for Quebec.

“The purpose of the appointments is to promote good will between the different Grand Chapters throughout Canada, North America and the world,” said a release from the Eastern Star. “The appointees will be paired with someone from these jurisdictions with whom they can correspond. Some even choose to visit one other, especially during each other’s Grand Chapter Sessions. In some instances, lifelong friendships have been formed.”

The commissions last for a period of 2 years.
