A highlight of the annual Christmas in November sale of crafts and products handled by home-based businesses at the OCC Hall on November 19 is sure to be the display of copies of a children’s book that will be having its Kamsack debut.

Marilyn Lachambre of Kamsack, who expects to receive thousands of copies of her book entitled Angel Blessings by November 10, will be selling copies at the Christmas in November.

The book, which is 32 pages in length, includes 26 vivid water colour illustrations, also by Lachambre, and is printed in full colour.

Lachambre, who said that all through her life she has doodled and written pieces, it was not until the birth of her first grandchild that she decided to write a book.

“I had been reading books to my grandchildren and I began making up stories and songs,” she said last week, clutching a printer’s proof of the book.

She explained that she had first contacted a self-publisher, but it was not until a year later that she had received a response. She wrote the story in 2015, and then began to illustrate it.

“I spent this spring and summer painting the pictures,” she said, adding that she has been working with Heather Nickel of Your Nickel’s Worth Publications of Regina and Freisen’s Printing in Altona, Man.

A story concerning signs and messages from the angels, which makes it an ideal Christmas gift, the book was deemed suitable for children aged three to eight by one publisher, and for those aged three to five, by a bookseller, she said.

She is selling copies at $19.95 each and is working on creating a webpage through which she would be better able to handle the sales.

Prior to the Kamsack debut at Christmas in November, Lachambre has agreed to attend an author’s book-signing event at the Coles bookstore in Yorkton on November 13.

“One small book to spread hope and love for all,” a reviewer has said of the book.

“Angel Blessings is s sweet book with a wonderful message of love for your little one,” said Bonnie Bogner, a spiritual coach and speaker at Soulvibrations.ca. “What a gift to give them an early relationship with the angelic realm. The loving guidance in this book could actually benefit everyone, young and old alike.”

“Illuminating, original and beautifully written, this book captures the heart, opens the mind and reminds us of the deeper truths: all things are possible,” said Rev. Bonnie Wirth.

Asked if she’s started thinking about a second book, Lachambre said “sorta, kinda, but I have to market this one first.”

She said that copies of the book will be carried at Buck’s Dollar Store in Kamsack and she plans to do another book signing event in Regina sometimes during November, but that date and place are yet to be determined.

The Christmas in November event, which is a fundraiser for the Kamsack Playhouse Theatre, will include a range of crafts and products handled by home-based businesses including jewelry, giftware, candies, spices, knitting, woodworking, baking, soaps and lotions, makeup and much more.

“Do your Christmas shopping early and support the theatre,” says information from organizers. The event includes lunch with homemade soups, sandwiches, desserts and coffee.
