100th birthday celebration held at Seniors Harmony Centre in Kamsack

On March 19 Lucy Saranchuk of Kamsack joined the triple digit club when she celebrated her 100th birthday at the Kamsack Seniors Harmony Centre.

Born on the Picton farm north of Arran, Saranchuk was one of three daughters and two sons of Tom and Molly (nee Picton) Zlotoff.

She has two surviving siblings, a sister Elsie Saunderson, age 92, of Winnipeg who was in Kamsack to help celebrate on March 19, and a brother John Zlotoff, age 90, of Edmonton.

Saranchuk was married to husband Metro, and their union produced four daughters: Colleen Danielson of Kamsack, Deb Saranchuk of California, Jane Dalke of Calgary and Frances Danielson of Swift Current.

Saskatchewan has twice the national average of centenarians, said her daughter Deb.

As observers of her life, her daughters say her longevity perhaps can be attributed to her being curious, open, accepting and loving, and a whole lot of hard work!

“She laughs heartily and is always seeing the positive in life and the good in others,” they said. “She was delighted to have family and friends come from California, Texas, B.C, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to celebrate this momentous event.”

“Lucy continues to bring joy, love and laughter to her four daughters, one son-in -law, six grandsons, one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and countless friends and relatives,” it was said.
