Kamsack district golfers win at Canora men’s and women’s golf tournaments

The Canora Golf and Country Club was proud to host 21 women and 50 men at the Ladies’ Open and Men’s Open golf tournaments on August 20 and 21.

            The Canora Golf and Country Club was proud to host 21 women and 50 men at the Ladies’ Open and Men’s Open golf tournaments on August 20 and 21.

            The tournaments, which were sponsored by about 40 different companies, brought in a large amount of golfers from Canora and the surrounding area, including Yorkton, Preeceville, Norquay, Kamsack, and Brooks, Alta., and featured a championship flight, first flight, and second flight for the women, and four flights and a championship flight for the men. Novelty prizes were also awarded.

            In the Ladies’ Open, the championship flight was won by Phyllis Paul, who was awarded first place for her score of 96. Judy Pollon and Gilda Walls won second and third place, respectively.

            For the first flight, the winners were: Laurene Achtemichuk, first; Gloria Signarowski, second; and Darlene Senkow, third.

            In the second flight of the tournament, Marge Montain was awarded first place. Second place was awarded to Joyce McLean, with third place being awarded to Carrie-Lynn Weigel.

            In the Men’s Open, the championship flight was won by Ashley Straightnose with a score of 70. Other winners included Mitch Samuels, second; Allan Cote, third; and Cliff Trombley, fourth.

            In the first flight, Kelly Beblow’s score of 81 allowed him to win first place. The three other winners were Jamie Holodniuk, second; Del Paseichnik, third; and Aubrey Quewezance, fourth.

            In the second flight of the tournament, Gerald Dennis won first place with a score of 88. In second place was Chris Senkow, in third was Bryce Pelechaty, and in fourth was William Keshane.

            In the third flight, Ross Samuels got a score of 92 and the first-place standing. Jarod Butler won second place, while Lawrence Everett and Don Fournier won third and fourth place respectively.

            In the fourth flight of the Men’s Open, Don Probe was awarded first place for his score of 98. Other winners included Ron Steranko, second; Mike Kwas, third; and Adam Korb, fourth.
