The Kamsack Atom Flyers “learned about the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat” during their five-team tournament on February 4 and 5.

The Flyers were excited to have won all three games they played on Saturday, said Mike Eliuk, coach. They defeated the Cote Chiefs 6-2, which was the first time they defeated the Chiefs in three games; the Churchbridge Imperials 4-3, after having lost to the Imperials at their tournament, and Preeceville Pats, 8-7 in overtime.

“We were not able to beat the Pats all season,” Eliuk said.

And then on Sunday, the Flyers lost both their games, and both were against the Pats. First, they lost 4-3 in overtime, and then 7-2.

The Pats won the tournament with a record of three wins and one loss; Kamsack placed second, and Churchbridge, third. The Cote Chiefs placed fourth, and the Swan River Stampeders ended in fifth place.

Working with Eliuk coaching the team are Jeremy Allard, Stacy Erhardt and RJ Grieve.

The Atom Flyers were to play in Canora on Sunday.
