Glen Becenko rink tops A event of Kamsack Mixed Bonspiel

The Glen Becenko rink of Kamsack topped the A event of the Kamsack Mixed Bonspiel which was played March 29 to April 1. Curling with Becenko, skip, were: Mark Warriner, third; Steven Wishnevetski, second, and Kade Wishnevetski, lead.

            Placing second in the event was the Don Bowes rink which included Ed Guenther, third; Doug Elsasser, second, and Robyn Tataryn, lead.

            Third in the A event was a rink comprised of Barb Trofimenkoff, third; Jason Pennell, skip; Maria Nahnybida, second and Jena Bowes, lead, while placing fourth was a team comprised of Steve Isles, skip; Jesse Isles, third; Brady Ramstead, second and Lucille Haydt, lead.

The Tom Jordans rink won the B event. Curling with Jordans, the skip, were: Elodie Jordans, third; Thomas Jordans, second, and Paul Jordans, lead.

Placing second in the B event was the Aaron Chernoff rink with Chernoff as skip; Tim Bodnarek, third; Deanna Bodnarek, second, and Carla Chernoff, lead.

In third place was the RM of Cote rink with Ken Chernoff, skip; Sherry Guenther, third; Ralph Hildrerman, second and Rosalie Hilderman, lead, while in fourth place was the Kim Gulka rink with Gulka as skip; Leanne Fissel, third; Karie Thomas, second, and Monica Morgan, lead.

The Nolan Nykolaishen rink won the C event. Curling with Nykolaishen, skip, were David Dutcheshen, third; Jason Chernoff, second and Chrissy Rosowsky-Hudye, lead.

Nykolaishen had defeated the Linda Dietrich rink of Calder, which placed second in the event. Curling with Linda Dietrich were Mathew Dietrich, third; Cynthia Brinley, second, and Hunter Brinley, lead.

The Jon Livingston rink of Roblin, Man., placed third in the C event. Curling with Jon Livingston, skip, were Jason Reminek, third; Deanna Livingston, second, and Jessica Baranowski, lead.

Placing fourth in the C event was the Jennifer Koroluk rink. Curling with Jennifer Koroluk, third; were Jack Erhardt, skip; Jody Koroluk, second, and Cloe Koroluk, lead.

Colleen Planedin, president of the mixed curling club, said that the bonspiel was a huge success with a total of 28 teams entered.

“Members of the executive committee did a great job,” she said, listing Monica Morgan, Jennifer Koroluk, Deanna Bodnarek and Andy Kazakoff as the members of the executive committee.

Ed Guenther was in charge of team registrations; Andy Kazakoff was the drawmaster; Mark Foster made the ice, and In Good Taste of Togo was the caterer which served about 150 persons.

The TV raffle was won by Ted Gardner, the stocked cooler raffle was won by Ralph Hilderman, and the curling broom raffle was won by Chris Bowes.

The barefoot-to the-four-foot competition was lots of fun, as usual, said Planedin. Jody Sas was the winner.
