The Yorkton Rawtec Maulers will be playing the Prince Albert Mintos at 5 p.m. Both teams compete in the Saskatchewan AAA Hockey League.

Kishaun Gervais, who plays for the Yorkton team, was drafted by the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL) this past spring. He is the grandson of Bill Keshane of the Keeseekoose First Nation.

Alex Moar, who plays for the Prince Albert Mintos, is the son of former Kamsack residents Kirk and Lovern McDonald. He was drafted by the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League.

“Kirk is a member of the RCMP and was stationed in Kamsack for a number of years,” said former resident Greg Nichol of Yorkton, a well-known hockey fan.

“Both boys are products of the Kamsack Minor Hockey Association,” Nichol said.

Another Kamsack connection is Braden Schneider who plays for the Prince Albert Mintos. He is the grandson of Ernie and Cathy Derworiz of Kamsack and the son of Carmela Schneider (Derworiz). Carmela is a member of the RCMP stationed at Prince Albert.

Braden was selected first round (12th overall) in the 2016 WHL Draft, having been drafted by the Brandon Wheat Kings.
