A huge street party that included a dance, music, food and a beer garden was held in Norquay on August 26 in celebration of RB’s Place’s one-year grand opening.

What once was Norquay Bakery has been renovated to become RB's Place, which is located at 5 Main Street.

Owned and operated by Roxann Boychuk, RB's currently employs three others: Christine Perrick, Maryann Boychuk and Paige Werner.

“RB's offers a full menu including anything from homemade pies to burgers or steak and lunch buffets like our famous Tuesday Ukrainian buffet, which is served from 11 a.m to 2 p.m.,” Roxann said. “We also offer catering services for many events, big or small.

“Our hours of operation are Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.”

Roxann said that she took approximately one year to renovate the former bakery, and with the help of High-End Construction she plans more renovations in the months to come.

“I have always loved to cook but never imagined that my dream of owning my own restaurant would become reality as it did on August 23 of last year,” she said. “We have celebrated one year and would not be where we are today without the on-going support of many in Norquay and surrounding areas.”

The celebration included music by Saddles and Steel, a street dance to music by Steven Jesmer and the Takers, a beer garden and lots of food, which included perogies, Ukrainian plates, the business’s specialty which is a Ukrainian buffet, its “famous” ribs and wings.

“We were open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.,” Roxann said.

She encourages district residents to consult the business’s Facebook page or call the restaurant any time.
