Town council deals with false alarms and day care expansion

An altered policy for false fire alarms and an expansion for the KamKids Daycare were among items to concern town council at its regular meeting on September 26.

An altered policy for false fire alarms and an expansion for the KamKids Daycare were among items to concern town council at its regular meeting on September 26.

Council agreed to establish a false alarm policy that has a flat rate of $500 charged for a fire call that has been cancelled prior to the trucks leaving the fire hall. A “false alarm” call also constitutes a call under the current agreements, but the “false alarm” rate will be charged.

It was agreed to share on a 50/50 basis with KamKids Daycare the plumbing installation costs for Room 222 at the Crowstand Centre, which needs to expand its space in the building. Council accepted a quote from Hancock Plumbing of Yorkton to install a washroom in Room 222.

Council approved a request from Murielle and Jean-Guy Groleau to purchase Lot 9, Block 13, Plan X1287 (243 Hudson Bay Avenue) and granted permission to consolidate the property with Lot 10.

The administration was instructed to contact SEDA (Saskatchewan Economic Development Association) to express council’s interest in hosting a one-day economic development meeting and requested additional information.
