Students of Chief Gabriel Cote Education Complex had opportunity to see a stock car up close on Friday when the vehicle, which races in the school’s name, was brought to the school.

The Thunder stock car was making its way to the Yellowhead International Speedway in Yorkton for the last meet of the season which was to have been held on Sunday, said Sara-Ann Keshane, a driver of the car and Grade 12 teacher who pained the car’s hood to include the school’s logo.

Staff and students assembled around the car in order to be photographed with the hood, Keshane said.

Also driving the vehicle is Keshan’s brother Darren Frampton (a.k.a. Taco).

This year marks the first year of stock car racing for the siblings and to date, Frampton has won two heats and has placed second several times, while Keshane has won the women’s race.

“It has been a very exciting experience,” Keshane said, adding that she had never thought that she would be a stock car racer.

“It just goes to show that anything is possible if you give it a try,” she said.

Keshane said she hopes to be racing next year again.
