Norquay School’s junior drama club will be performing the musical Beauty and the Beast on April 6 at at the Norquay Covenant Church.
In the well-known story, an arrogant young prince and his castle's servants fall under the spell of a wicked enchantress, who turns him into the hideous Beast until he learns to love and be loved in return, says the synopsis of the play.
The spirited, headstrong village girl Belle enters the Beast's castle after he imprisons her father Maurice, it says. With the help of his enchanted servants, including the matronly Mrs. Potts, Belle begins to draw the cold-hearted Beast out of his isolation.
Included in the cast are: Alexa Olson, Belle; Randi Foster, Beast; Carson Ebert, Gaston; Jake Foster, Lefou; Jazmyn Papp, Mrs. Potts; Jordyn Severson, Chip/Bimbette; Lexi Lindgren, Maurice; Ashlyn Olson, Lumiere; Abby Robinson, Cogsworth; Mia Butterfield, wardrobe/Bimbette; Paul Frampton, D’Arque, and Ava Shelenko, Feather Duster/Bimbette.
Rhonda Innes and Nicole Olson are the directors and Kortny Wasylyniuk, Sierra Dahlin and Tessa Reine are members of the stage crew.
