Kamsack Hospital laboratory services resumed

Full laboratory services at the Kamsack Hospital were to resume Monday morning, after not having had those services for three days last week.

Full laboratory services at the Kamsack Hospital were to resume Monday morning, after not having had those services for three days last week.

Lynel Martinuk, communications co-ordinator for Sunrise Health Region, issued a release on December 13 saying that due to a temporary shortage of laboratory staff coverage there would be no outpatient laboratory services at Kamsack Hospital on December 14, 15 and 16.

Regular outpatient lab hours at Kamsack Hospital are Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Martinuk said.

Lab services for all outpatient clients, including those of the Stepping Stone Clinic, were not available during the service interruption, she said. All other outpatient services were to continue to function under normal operating hours.

Clients who had required outpatient laboratory services during the interruption were advised to proceed to another Sunrise Health Region facility, such as Canora Hospital. Kamsack Hospital emergency services were available as per normal operating hours.

Persons requiring service interruption announcements were advised to call 1-866-800-5510.
