Dr. Emmanuel Ogali said he will be leaving Kamsack with good memories.

Ogali, who began working at Kamsack in January 2013, will be leaving for Calgary in September.

“It was a family decision,” Ogali said last week, adding that the education of his children was one of the main reasons the family decided to move. His wife Nene and three children Odi, Adaeze and Daniel moved to Calgary last July.

“It is a necessity that I leave,” he said. “But, we’ll always have Kamsack in our minds.”

Initially before arriving at Kamsack, Ogali said he had heard some negative comments about the community and as “a man of faith,” he knew there was a reason for his coming to Kamsack.

“Four years in Kamsack has opened my eyes,” he said. “It’s been awesome. It’s a wonderful place.

“It has been a blessing,” he said, mentioning the many friendships that he has formed. “We’re all like brothers and sisters.”

The experience has confirmed to trust in God’s loving and everything works out, he said.

Regarding Winners’ Chapel, the evangelical congregation that he has led while in the community and currently meets in a room at Crowstand Centre Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings, he said he hopes that the services can continue.

Ogali said that until he leaves in September he will be helping Sunrise Health Region find another doctor to succeed him in Kamsack.

Councillor Claire Bishop, who is the chair of the Assiniboine Valley Health and Wellness Foundation, extended “a big thank you” to Ogali on behalf of the board and the community.
