Eighteen of the 20 members of the Kamsack air cadets, and two Canora cadets participated in a biathlon in Kamsack on September 30.

“We used the track at the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute,” said Karen Bodnaryk, the squadron’s civilian instructor. The cadets ran once around the track, then shot at five targets. They then ran the track, shot five more targets and ran the track and shot their last five targets.

The competition was timed, Bodnaryk said. The range safety officer was Capt. Cindy Crow of Yorkton.

“Cade Henry Martino had the best time at 17 minutes, 19 seconds, which is very good considering our average time was 25.33,” she said. “He also had the best shot, shooting 5/5, 5/5, and 4/5.”

All together the cadets had four perfect shots. Cade Henry Martino had two; Juan Mesa of Canora had one perfect shot, and Teanna Raffard of Kamsack, a first-year cadet, had her first perfect shot.

The Kamsack cadets were to participate in a survival exercise October 20 to 22 at Camp Saskadet located near Kelvington and are preparing for their participation in Remembrance Day seravices.
