Christmas social earns Kamsack rec board nearly $22,000

The Kamsack Recreation Board has nearly $22,000 to work with to provide and enhance the recreation opportunities in the community following the success of the Community Christmas Social held December 16.

On Friday, an oversized cheque for $15,769, representing the amount raised at the Community Christmas Social with a matching donation of $5,000 from Jim Pattison, was presented to the Kamsack Recreation Board.             The Kamsack Recreation Board has nearly $22,000 to work with to provide and enhance the recreation opportunities in the community following the success of the Community Christmas Social held December 16.

            The social event, which included dinner, which was catered by the Iron Grill restaurant, a dance and a silent auction, attracted just over 200 people.

            “Money raised from this event, with the matched donation of $5,000 from Jim Pattison was $15,768.84,” said information from organizers.

“An additional $5,800 was received in donations from Northern Mat and Bridge, Norquay Family Pharmacy, Murray and Dot Davies and the Nykolaishen family, bringing the grand total to $21,568.84,” the information said.

Pattison Ag thanks all the businesses and individuals that attended the social and donated items for the silent auction and raffles, and acknowledges the rec board for its assistance in helping make the event a huge success, it said.
